Change

You’ve all heard the phrases. “I don’t like change.” “Change is inevitable.” “People change.”

I’ve been thinking about these, and other phrases, lately. It’s not that I don’t like change, because I do sometimes. However, I also like the patterns. I like the habitual. The I know what I’m doing and what’s going on. I do like change. I like the seasonal changes. I like new adventures. I like travel & I like meeting new people. I wish to take as many opportunities as I can find and run with them.

But, I like coming back to something I can count on. I appreciate the norm & the support.

Then, I find myself adjusting and finding that new way of life that is natural and comfortable.

By that point, I realize that I’ve changed.

Just so you are aware.

I’ve joined Pinterest.

Now I have just one more reason to stay up way too late for my 8 AM class.

BeeTeaDubs, that 8AM is ballet! We started warm ups today at the barre, and let me just tell you that being out of dance for 10 years really makes you forget everything. Also, it makes your legs a bit sore. No matter, I’m very excited for this semester. Not only do I get to take ballet, I’m finally taking classes I want to take. This means NO MORE chemistry or bio. Yay Yay Yay. I may get demolished in my two Spanish classes, though. They are a wee bit difficult as I’ve never had a class completely in Spanish until this semester. Can you say challenging?

Still excited.

Luck of the draw.

Since it’s finals week, I thought I’d talk about luck.

Do you have any lucky tricks?

via

I have a few tricks I whip out on exam days.

For example, it’s all about what you wear. I do have lucky underwear. I am one of those people. Don’t judge me. I also try to wear one of 3 pairs of shoes.

Then we have music.

I listen to either my newest pump up song or one of my favorites to get my mind focused. Usually this one. After that, it’s just about being comfortable. I try to wear leggings or something similar. Uncomfortable jeans are not your friends on test days.

Here are some lucky superstitions if you’re shopping for a new one.

When I used to cheer, I had to stand there before going on stage and silently go through the entire routine. I also wore lucky underwear back then…

You may think superstitions are silly, but it’s more of a mental state. It boosts confidence or how comfortable you feel. Lucky people make their own “luck.” Just read this. Or don’t, it’s kind of long. Read this instead. Anyway, I’m going to continue my superstitious ways whether or not it really helps. It’s routine now, it makes me feel better.

~Always remember, though:

“Chance favors only the prepared mind.”

-Louis Pasteur

Regardless, you’ll probably look like this after exams.

Just make sure you write correctly. Or think about ALOTS.

Do you love your job?

I’m sure there are things you don’t like about it. Let’s be honest, everyone has something.

Do you love it anyway?

Well, luckily, I am one of the people that can answer yes to that question.

Sure, I can get overwhelmed by too many projects going on, but I have such a supportive staff. I have made friends that I’ll have for the rest of my life.

I also have amazing residents. I love helping them out with things and just learning about them and seeing them enjoy their first semester of college. After a long day, I’ll talk with my residents, and it reminds me of why I wanted to do this job in the first place. I wanted to help students get comfortable with living on campus away from home, because it was hard for me.

It’s so rewarding to see them enjoy this year & I can’t believe the semester is coming to a close. It’s bittersweet.

I’ll be honest, though. I C A N ‘ T wait for my last final to be over & to see my wonderful family and friends! <3

Catch up.

Busy bees around Btown this past week.

Sometimes school, a job, friends, and family can be a lot to juggle.

& then you have those nights with your best friends where you talk about anything and everything.

& those days spent with family where the nephew is so funny.

& the programs that were totally worth all the work.

& the drives where you jam to music.

& late night walks around the square with the christmas lights up.

& free sbux.

& meeting new people and reuniting with old friends.

& finding a new favorite band.

Thankful for everything I have.

What are you thankful for this week?

Monday storm

It’s storming here, which is kind of nice.

I was starting to get really stressed out about this week, but then I got back to my room and just sat in the dark and watched the storm.

That is one of the most relaxing things to do.

All it takes is a little perspective to realize that things are definitely not as bad as they may seem.

So just breathe and listen to the rain fall.

Don’t let them hold you back

This post was going to be about my new skirt . . .

But it’s more than that.

I bought this skirt this weekend. I  l o v e  it. However, I was nervous to get it. When you buy something out of your comfort zone, it’s just that: slightly uncomfortable. I was worried about what people would think.

Then I did something wonderful: I said “screw i!”. I’m buying it because I love it. Why would it matter if “they” don’t.

I’ve been doing this more and more, embracing my quirks and the things I love, even if it’s not the norm. If it makes me happy, isn’t that enough? I shouldn’t live my life to fit in, to please the whole, to not be judged.

Let’s face it, someone is going to hate things I choose to do, say, wear, or love.

But there will be others that love it too.

So why not go for it?

Today is a good day.

Awkward:

Always walking into the wrong side of the door at CVS. I swear it should open on the right side, but it never does.

Walking, then swiftly turning around while talking to myself because I forgot something… but having people notice it.

Falling asleep at 8:30 and waking up still sitting with my Freud reading on my lap.

Waking up realizing that my nose ring was ripped out by my fuzzy pillow in the middle of the night. ouch.

Always complaining, and having my friends say: “#FirstWorldProblems” -makes me realize that I should be more thankful for things.

Doing very poorly on two exams..

Not having time to blog for a whole week.

Forgetting my umbrella, and forgetting to zip my backpack all the way = wet papers.

Awesome:

Seeing my family

Halloween. Love love loved that weekend. (Seeing high school friends, good memories & stories, fun costumes, note:above I’m a spiderweb, best friends, treats, and volunteering with kids)

Best friends visiting for Halloween.

Phone calls with my dad.

Local grocery stores. Bloomingfoods saved my program and I <3 it.

Doing well in a class.

Surprise gifts.

Christmas lights in my room. (Also, holiday cheer & all of the new decorations and ads for the holidays)

I’m taking ballet next semester as an elective!

My bulletin board is a turkey & my residents can put up feathers with things they are thankful for. Some they put up include of course: family, support, education, and friends… but then there was also: Nutella, glee, and my favorite, My dashing looks.

My week

September 19, 2011

New tights, new hair.

Somehow I ended up at target. That turned into a shopping spree. Then I rearranged my room.

Fall Decorations!

It has an autumn poem, so cute.

Heart tights.

First time doing a fish tail!

So now I need to work out, head a meeting, write two papers, read a whole lot, and try to sleep.

Have a fantastic Monday evening!
