Let’s make a switch.

Hello everyone. Or, rather, I should say goodbye.

I am moving to blogspot.

Sorry to break some hearts, but you can still follow me here.

I still go by the same name, just a different host. (so tell your friends!)

xoxo,

Mel

Oh heyy

So, if you know me in person at all, you know my signature phrase. “Oh heyyy.” This is my usual greeting for my friends & family. An awkward arm movement usually accompanies it, too.

So in the spirit of this and my best friend’s new weekly post, The Little Things, I will post little letters to random things in my life.

I love apostrophe.

Around the world.

It’s not a secret, I want to travel. It’s tough to figure it out, though. With school, money, jobs, family… how does one do it?

Well these two ladies did, and I can’t wait to follow their web series!

Chai do.

Hey everyone. I was going to post yesterday, but I was protesting SOPA!

Now, on to less serious matters.

Awkward:

The above photo. It’s my picture for our staff family tree that hangs up in the center of our residence hall.

Not being able to control your crying in public. Yeah, let’s not talk about it.

Only being able to keep track of your friends’ lives because of twitter.

Not being able to respond to a question in class because she was using vocab I’ve never heard.

The fact that I haven’t gone boarding at all this year.

Speed-walking/running to class.

Not being able to pee because you woke up 5 minutes before ballet started @ 8 AM

My coordination skills in ballet. I swear every time my teacher tells us about how we’re doing something wrong, he’s staring at me.

Awesome:

Realizing you have F A N T A S T I C friends who will help you through anything. thank you.

Dancing in my room to this song. So catchy.

Volunteering.

Ballet! I may look like a giraffe trying to learn the basics, but it’s my favorite class.

Getting oranges from FL sent to you. yum.

CHAI! (Thanks to my dad for getting me chai concentrate for Christmas) with vanilla soy milk, so good.

The sun. It does wonders for your mood.

Actually having a clean room. It doesn’t matter that I shoved all my clothes on a chair in my closet, I can’t see that part.

Yes, I took pictures of my chai with christmas lights. It made my night better.

Change

You’ve all heard the phrases. “I don’t like change.” “Change is inevitable.” “People change.”

I’ve been thinking about these, and other phrases, lately. It’s not that I don’t like change, because I do sometimes. However, I also like the patterns. I like the habitual. The I know what I’m doing and what’s going on. I do like change. I like the seasonal changes. I like new adventures. I like travel & I like meeting new people. I wish to take as many opportunities as I can find and run with them.

But, I like coming back to something I can count on. I appreciate the norm & the support.

Then, I find myself adjusting and finding that new way of life that is natural and comfortable.

By that point, I realize that I’ve changed.

Just so you are aware.

I’ve joined Pinterest.

Now I have just one more reason to stay up way too late for my 8 AM class.

BeeTeaDubs, that 8AM is ballet! We started warm ups today at the barre, and let me just tell you that being out of dance for 10 years really makes you forget everything. Also, it makes your legs a bit sore. No matter, I’m very excited for this semester. Not only do I get to take ballet, I’m finally taking classes I want to take. This means NO MORE chemistry or bio. Yay Yay Yay. I may get demolished in my two Spanish classes, though. They are a wee bit difficult as I’ve never had a class completely in Spanish until this semester. Can you say challenging?

Still excited.

10 Days Already

Hey there. I know I’ve been gone a while. Well I moved back to school, had 4 days of training, and started classes. This semester is going to be V E R Y busy. I think I’m ready, though. I’m focusing on working hard and making the most of my life in 2012. My resolutions were to drink more water and to create more. I want to make art, take pictures, use my hands and my imagination. I also want to push myself this year. I’m going to start training more and stop wasting time! I’m excited and ready to see what this year has to offer…. it’s already given my 4 reading assignments for tonight… but oh well. ;)

This is a lovely manifesto from Creating Clever that I stumbled upon via Pinterest. Hope it brings you some motivation to stick to your goals this year. So what are your resolutions?

3 books, 3 days

I read The Hunger Games series in three days. I was just a little bit obsessed. In all fairness, they’re quite good.

When I began reading I had no idea that the series would unfold the way it did. Also, I was a little bit sad of her choice at the end of the book.

Have you read the books? What did you think?

My favorite book would have to be Mockingjay. It tied everything together and kept you glued to the pages. Speaking of favorites, I did pick a favorite character. Or like 12…

Cinna tops the list. His skill and silent support aid Katniss throughout the series. Also, his defiance of the Capitol were strong points in the series that you may not have seen coming, or maybe you did. Also, he continues to help Katniss throughout the last two books, even when he is not with her.

Next, would be Haymitch. Finnick soon follows. I have my reasons for my top, what are yours?

March 23, can’t wait!
